It’s that time if the year again – get ready to loosen your purse-strings this week to have the cutting edge of technology in the palm of your hand.
Gitex Shopper – the electronics show where aggressive discounts meet smart bundling and smooth marketing – will open Saturday, October 3, in Dubai.
The show is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Expect a representation of all major global brands at this year’s Gitex Shopper Fall edition to tempt you and your wallet.
Smartphones, laptops, tablets, and high-definition TVs will be amongst the hottest selling categories at this year’s Gitex Shopper.
According to Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the organisers of Gitex Shopper, the 25th edition of the region’s largest and most anticipated consumer IT and electronics show promises tech-savvy consumers the very latest smartphone models at the best possible prices.
“Smartphones have become pocketable personal computers, enabling us to stay connected, access the internet and engage directly with brands, services and social networks,” says Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice-President, DWTC.
According to Euromonitor International, smartphones sales in the Middle East and Africa are expected to grow to $23.53 billion by 2020.
Tech-hungry UAE residents in particular are extremely smartphone savvy, with every resident flaunting two mobile phones on average.
“It’s clear that smartphones are rapidly becoming an essential device rather than one that would be nice to have, and it’s never been easier or more affordable to purchase one thanks to the exceptional offers being showcased during our 25th anniversary show,” adds DWTC’s LohMirmand.
“We have a selection of newly released smartphones lined up, including the Samsung Note 5, Sony Xperia Z5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, which we expect to be top-sellers,” says Nadeem Khanzadah, Head of OmniChannel Retail, Jumbo Electronics, a Dubai-based electronics retailer.
“With the rising demand in wearables and headphones, we’ll also be featuring deals for Huawei Talkband and Sennheiser,” he adds.
Several retailers are also expected to cash-in on the demand for Apple’s hottest new smartphones – the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus – and start accepting pre-orders at the show for official delivery starting October 10, the last day of the Shopper.
In addition, other major players including Samsung, Sony, Lenovo, Huawei, and Obi will be pushing their own devices at the eight-day sales extravaganza (October 3-10).
Consumer electronics major Samsung promises exciting promotions on its products. “Together with Gitex Shopper, Samsung strives to meet the needs of every customer, offering the latest technology at the most attractive prices,” says C. Purushothaman, Head of Marketing, IM Division, Samsung Gulf Electronics.
“This year, shoppers will have the chance to experience the newest in wearables and smartphones including the Galaxy Note5, the Galaxy S6 edge+ and the new Galaxy Tab S2. We are also happy to announce that our new Gear S2 wearable device will be on display for the first time in the region,” he adds.
For the next eight days, Dubai World Trade Centre will be the place to be to avail of the fantastic deals on smartphone devices from the world’s top technology companies and the region’s power retailers.
The Sony Xperia Z5, the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and the Samsung Gear S2 wearable device are just few of the smartphones devices that will be at the show, say organisers.
A disrupter in the global consumer electronics industry, Obi Worldphone will host the regional launch of their latest smartphones at Gitex Shopper.
“This year’s Gitex Shopper is particularly exciting for us as it follows almost immediately after the global launch of our flagship Obi Worldphone SF1 and the SJ1.5,” says Amit Rupchandani, Managing Director at Obi Worldphone EMEA.
“The UAE is one of our priority markets, and we are pleased to time the local roll-out of these products around the biggest consumer technology event in the region,” he said.
“As another Gitex Shopper season kicks off, we are excited to bring customers the latest launches and best value offers,” says Jumbo’s Khanzadah.
Gitex Shopper 2015 takes place from October 3-10 and is runs from 11m until 11pm every day. Tickets are priced at Dh30 per person; entry is free for children below the age of five.
